yp_first

Name

yp_first — Fetches the key and value of the first record in a map.

Synopsis

array yp_first(domain, map);
string domain: NIS domain name
string map: NIS map name (or nickname)

Returns

Array; FALSE on error

Description

yp_first() fetches the key and value for the first record in a map and returns them in a three-element associative array. The first element uses the record's key name as its key and the record's value as its value. The additional two elements in the array use key and value as their keys, and contain the value for the record key and the record value, respectively.

For example, a record in the passwd map with the key of dosemu would be represented as the following array:

array (
   'dosemu' => 'dosemu:x:30:',
   'key => 'dosemu',
   'value' => 'dosemu:x:30:'
);

Version

PHP 3.0.7+, PHP 4+
