sybase_free_result

Name

sybase_free_result — Frees memory associated with a query.

Synopsis

bool sybase_free_result(result);
int result: Result identifier

Returns

TRUE on success; FALSE on error

Description

sybase_free_result() can be used as a memory cleaner at any time after a query. All query results are stored in memory and are read out from memory using display functions such as sybase_fetch_row() . If you're concerned that your query may use too much memory in your script, calling sybase_free_result() will free the memory allocated to the result set. You really only need this function if you're going to be making lots of queries in a script or if your query returns large amounts of data.

Version

From version 3.0

Example

Example 1306. Free query memory

$db = @sybase_connect("SERVER","DBUSER","DBPASSWD") or die("Unable to connect to server");
sybase_select_db("pubs");
$result = sybase_query("SELECT * FROM authors");
sybase_free_result($result);
