sybase_fetch_row

Name

sybase_fetch_row — Fetches a row of data as an array.

Synopsis

array sybase_fetch_row(result);
int result: Result identifier

Returns

Array containing current record or FALSE

Description

Reads the current row in the Sybase server result set and returns an array with each element containing the value of the corresponding field. Every time the function in called, an internal pointer for the result set gets moved to the next record in the result set until the last record is reached, when the function returns FALSE.

The array elements are in the same order as the fields returned from the query. You should be very careful using "SELECT * FROM table" with this function, as you cannnot guarantee the order of the fields returned from the database.

Version

From version 3.0

Example

Example 1304. Retrieve rows from a query

$db = @sybase_connect("SERVER","DBUSER","DBPASSWD") or die("Unable to connect to server");
sybase_select_db("pubs");
$result = sybase_query("SELECT * FROM authors");
while ($row = sybase_fetch_row($result)) {
   printf("%s %s<BR>\n", $row[2], $row[1]);
}
