pg_numrows

Name

pg_numrows — Displays the number of rows from a query.

Synopsis

int pg_numrows(result); int result: Result identifier

Returns

Number of rows; FALSE on error

Description

Returns the numbers of rows in a result set. An extremely useful function for looping through a result set, as the loop only iterates as far as necessary.

Example 1053. Display rows from query

$db = pg_connect("host=dbserver dbname=db user=dbuser password=dbpasswd");
$result = pg_exec($db,"SELECT * FROM employees WHERE age>65");
// traverse rows
for ($i=0; $i < pg_numrows($result);; $i++) {
    echo pg_result($result,$i,"age");
  }
}
