pg_fieldprtlen — Return printed field length

int pg_fieldprtlen(result, row, field);
int result: Result identifier
int row: Row number
string field: Field name

Print length or FALSE on error

Returns the length of the value in the specified row and field on a result set. Thus, if a field contains the word "The," pg_fieldprtlen() would return the value 3.

Example 1037. Display length of data in a field

$db = pg_connect("host=dbserver dbname=db user=dbuser password=dbpasswd");
$result = pg_exec($db,"SELECT * FROM employees");
// traverse rows
for ($i=0; $i < pg_numrows($result); $i++) {
  echo "<b>ROW $i</b><BR>\n";
  // traverse each field
  for ($j=0; $j < pg_numfields($result); $j++) {
    $field = pg_fieldname($result,$j);
    echo "Field $field is length ";
    echo pg_fieldprtlen($result,$i,$field);
    echo "<BR>\n";
