Name

ocinewdescriptor — Initialize a new LOB descriptor

Synopsis

string ocinewdescriptor(connection[, type]);
int connection: Connection identifier
int type (optional): LOB type

Returns

New descriptor or FALSE on error

Description

Allocates a descriptor or a LOB locator. The type parameter can be one of OCI_D_FILE, OCI_D_LOB or OCI_D_ROWID.

Once a new descriptor has been made, methods can be used to perform actions on the LOB. For LOB descriptors the load, save, and savefile can be used. For BFILE descriptors, only the load method can be used.
