ifx_create_char
Name
ifx_create_char — Creates an char object
Synopsis
int ifx_create_char
(paramter);
string paramter: Character
content
Returns
char object identifier or FALSE on error
Description
Creates a char datatype for inserting data types into an
Informix database. It is possible to create a char
datatype which is essentially a loosely typed variable.
Infmormix ESQl/C will attempt to convert the data to the
correct datatype. In the example below, note how an array
is created containing the char object identifier which is
then passed to ifx_query() .
Version
Since version 3.0.6 and 4.0
Example
Example 559. Example
$db = ifx_connect("stores7@ol","informix","informix");
// create param id for first char column
$tid = ifx_create_char("This is the text in the first CHAR column.\n");
// create param id for seccond char column
$bid = ifx_create_char("This is the text in the second CHAR column.\n");
// store both param ids in the param param array
$paramarray[0] = $tid;
$paramarray[1] = $bid;
// insert
$query = "insert into testparams values (0, ?, ?)";
$result = ifx_query($query, $db, $paramarray);
ifx_free_result($result);
ifx_close($db);
