ibase_query — Execute a query

mixed ibase_query([link], query[, bind]);
resource link (optional): Connection or transaction handle
string query: Query to execute
int bind (optional): Variables to bind into parameter placeholders

Result set handle, TRUE if query wasn't SELECT but successful, FALSE on error

Immediately executes query . Optional parameter link can be a connection handle from either ibase_connect() or ibase_pconnect() , in which case the query executes in the context of the default transaction on the specified connection, or a specific transaction opened with ibase_trans() . Defaults to the default transaction on last opened connection. The number of optional bind parameters must match the number of parameter placeholders (question marks) in the query.

UPDATE, INSERT and DELETE queries return TRUE if they were successful; SELECT queries return a result set handle, even if the result set contains 0 rows. You'll have to check with ibase_fetch_row() or ibase_fetch_object() to see whether you actually got something back.

Available in PHP 3 since 3.0.6, PHP 4

Example 549. Execute a query

$db = ibase_connect('/opt/interbase/examples/employee.gdb') or die("Couldn't connect to database!");
$rs = ibase_query($db, 'select * from customer');
