hw_insdoc

Name

hw_insdoc — Inserts a new text document into the server document hierarchy.

Synopsis

int hw_insdoc(hw_link, parent_id, object_record[, text]);
resource hw_link: Connection ID to Hyperwave server
int parent_id: Object ID of object under which to place the new document
string object_record: Object record describing the new document
string text (optional): Text of the new document

Returns

Object ID of the new document; FALSE on error

Description

Adds a new collection to the document hierarchy as a child of the object identified by parent_id . The new collection's object description is given as an object record string defined by object_record . You can insert only the object record (presumably adding the content later), or provide the content of the document in the text parameter.

This function works only with pure ASCII text documents. For generic document insertion, see hw_insertdocument() .

Version

PHP 3 since 3.0.3, PHP 4

Example

Example 508. Insert a text document into the database

if (($obj_id = hw_insdoc($hw_link, $root, $new_obj_rec)) === FALSE) {
    echo "Server link '$hw_link' in not a valid Hyperwave link resource.\n";
} else {
    echo "Added new text document with object ID '$obj_id'.\n";
}
