hw_errormsg

Name

hw_errormsg — Fetches the textual error message from the previously executed command.

Synopsis

string hw_errormsg(hw_link);
resource hw_link: Connection ID to Hyperwave server

Returns

Error text from the previous command; FALSE on error

Description

hw_errormsg() fetches the textual error message generated by the most recently executed Hyperwave command. If that command was successful, the string No error is returned. This function doesn't return information about errors that may have occurred separately from the server. Only functions that accept a Hyperwave link identifier as a parameter have error codes that can be reported by hw_error() .

As of PHP 4.0.5, these are the possible values for the returned string:

  • No error

  • No access

  • No documents

  • No collection name

  • Object is not a document

  • No object received

  • No collections received

  • Connection to low-level database failed

  • Object not found

  • Collection already exists

  • Parent collection disappeared

  • Parent collection not a collection

  • Collection not empty

  • Destination not a collection

  • Source equals destination

  • Request pending

  • Timeout

  • Name not unique

  • Database now read-only; try again later

  • Object locked; try again later

  • Attribute not removed

  • Change of base-attribute

  • Attribute exists

  • No or unknown language specified

  • Unknown error: <error code>

Version

PHP 3 since 3.0.3, PHP 4

Example

Example 478. Explain an error condition

hw_gettext($hw_link, $document_id);
if (hw_error()) {
    echo 'Could not fetch existing document: ' . hw_errormsg($hw_link);
}
