posix_setuid
Name
posix_setuid — Sets the user ID for the current
process (POSIX.1, 4.2.2)
Synopsis
bool posix_setuid
(uid);
int uid: Requested user
ID
Description
This function attempts to set the user ID for the current
process to that given in uid .
Under Linux, a non-root process may elect to relinquish
its priviledged user ID, perform some unpriviledged task,
and securely resume its original user ID. Root processes
must be more careful, as once they have given up their
priviledged user ID it will be impossible to regain.
Version
