posix_getpid — Return the process ID of the calling process (POSIX.1, 4.1.1)

int posix_getpid(void)

The process ID of the current process.

This function simply returns the process ID of the calling process. This value is often used to create process-specific temporary filenames and so forth; however, you may want to use something like tempnam() for that instead.

This function is always successful.

PHP 3.0.10+, PHP 4.0b4+

Example 1074. Getting the process ID of the current process

$pid = posix_getpid();
echo "Current process ID: $pid\n";
