pg_pconnect

Name

pg_pconnect — Establishes a connection to a PostgreSQL database.

Synopsis

int pg_pconnect(host, port[, options][, TTY], db);
string host: Database host
string port: Port number
string options (optional): Connection options
string TTY (optional): TTY number
string db: Database name

Returns

Connection ID; FALSE on error

Description

Creates a persistent connection to a PostgreSQL database on the server specified by the hostname. options contains the username and password to connect to the database. An alternative to this syntax is to use a connection string made up of name/value pairs including the database, username, and password, as in the following example:

pg_connect("host=dbserver dbname=db user=dbuser password=dbpasswd")
The parameters that can be used in this manner are host , port , dbname , user , password , options , and tty .
