ifx_pconnect

Name

ifx_pconnect — Open Informix server connection

Synopsis

int ifx_pconnect([database][, username][, password]); string database (optional): Database name string username (optional): Username string password (optional): Password

Returns

Connection handler or FALSE on error

Description

Establishes a connection to an Informix server. If a connection is already open, the function will use the existing connection instead of opening a new connecttion.

Certain environment variables must be set for the connection to occur. These are INFORMIXDIR , INFORMIXSERVER and DBPATH.

For extra security, the parameters in this function are optional and can instead be specified in the PHP initialisation file.

When the script terminates, the connection is not closed but remains open for reuse even if ifx_close() is used.
