imagepng

Name

imagepng — Ouputs a PNG image.

Synopsis

int imagepng(image[, file]);
int image: Image identifier
string file (optional): Filename

Returns

TRUE on success, FALSE on error

Description

imagepng() creates and outputs the PNG file from memory. An optional filename writes the PNG file to disk; otherwise, the image is sent directly to the client in binary form. PNG is a better option than using GIF files, as there are no legal problems using PNGs and they're fully compressible.

Version

Existing since version 3.0.13

Example

Example 430. Output a PNG file

header("Content-type: image/png");
$im = imagecreate(200, 200);
$green = imagecolorallocate($im, 0, 255, 0);
imagefill($im, 0, 0, $green);
imagepng($im);
imagedestroy($im);
