imageloadfont

Name

imageloadfont — Loads a GD font.

Synopsis

int imageloadfont(font);
string font: Font to load

Returns

Font identifier

Description

Loads a GD font for use and returns a numeric identifier that is passed to other text-display functions. GD has five built-in fonts that can be used without loading; therefore, the identifier returned by imageloadfont() is always greater than 5. GD files can be created from BDF format files, which are freely available on the Internet.

Example

Example 428. Load a new font to use

header("Content-type: image/png);
$im = imagecreate(200, 200);
$green = imagecolorallocate($im, 0, 255, 0);
$red = imagecolorallocate($im, 255, 0, 0);
imagefill($im, 0, 0, $green);
$font = imageloadfont("newfont.gd");
imagestring($im, $font, 50, 50, "New Font", $red);
imagepng($im);
imagedestroy($im);
