domxml_children — Get the children of an Node or Document object

array domxml_children(node);
object node: A Node object

An array of Node objects on success or FALSE on error.

Gets an array of Node objects for a Node object. If the XML has whitespace between the tags it counts as a child. So the document "<example> <idea>a thought</idea> </example> returns 3 children. The whitespace bewteen tags needs to be removed for this function to return the correct number of children. The Node object alias prototype is array children(void)() .

PHP 4 >= 4.0b4

Example 251. Print the children for a document

$doc = new_xmldoc("1.0");
$root = $doc->add_root("HTML");
$head = $root->new_child("HEAD", "");
$title = $head->new_child("TITLE", "Hello World");
$root->new_child("BODY","This is the body");

$children = $root->children();
$count = count($children);
for ($i=0; $i<$count; $i++) {
    print "Child: " . $children[$i]->name . "<BR>";
