Indexing error behind a NAT

Hello,

If you meet a problem of indexation while your server is behind NAT, there is a simple solution: enter your server name (www.mydomain.com for example) and the local IP address in the hosts file of your server (or in your local DNS server if it exists) it should be enough to resolve your problem.

Hey, i have also Webserver (W 2003, IIS 6) behind NAT and Firewall. I have no Problem to index this Server from outside without local DNS or local IP address in the hosts !?

You must only redirect this service and open/allow Port 80 or 443 for SSL in NAT-Roules.

Behind some NAT (like ISA Server ...) or firewall, you can't access to your public ip address from the LAN ... so you must define DNS entries with local ip address ...

NO, your config for DNS-Roules are wrong To edit the hosts file on server is not the simplest possibility. For ISA Server, for example, you can also define DNS-Roules for all NAT-LAN-Routing (and WAN). Host File is only for Client/Server who don`t support dynamic domain name Services like UINIX or Netware 3.x.
