How to increase indexing speed

I am using PhpDig Version 1.6.x

I have found, that if I start spider, the speed is about 20s ( from beginning ) to 25s for one page - too much. I am using command line.

But when I stop spider, ulock the site and start spider again, the speed is about 5 - 6s for indexing one page - new page, not update.

I should like to know why, because it is 1:5
It is not problem to do it, but ...?

Slavomir.
