Scalability
Hi,
We've recently built a site for a client of ours using phpDig as the base for the code. The site address is http://www.purpleengine.co.nz I was just wondering how big your guys databases are and what phpdig has been tested to - currently our stats are: Hosts : 108 Entries Pages : 28841 Entries Index : 4999911 Entries Keywords : 359523 Entries Temporary table : 80510 Entries what say you ? Thanks Alain PS - what does the temporary table do above ? |

Welcome to the forum, Alain. We're glad to have you here!
My database is much smaller than yours, I'm afraid. Actually though, I'd be more interested in how long it took for search results to be returned on a "common" word or group of words for someone's website. That's the real test, in my opinion. Regarding your question about the temporary table, I wasn't able to find an explanation of exactly what its purpose is, but perhaps this thread will offer some insight as to how you should be maintaining it. Hope it helps. |

Search times are something we are working on at the moment by tuning our hardware/software .. For a common word search times can range from milliseconds to a few seconds ..
I'm going to take a look at the different tables after reading that other thread - seems we are not indexing any sites at the moment so I would have throught the temporary table would be empty .. time for a backup/empty. Thanks Alain |
