Exclamation Trouble Using PHPDig over SSL

Hi,

I'm having trouble running PHPDig over an SSL connectionn on our company Intranet. When I attempt to index a site using the web interface, I get a message saying:

Optimizing tables...
Indexing complete !

When I attempt to index a site using shell access, my spider.log file says the following:
SITE : https://mysite.com/
Exclude paths :
- @NONE@
No link in temporary table
links found : 0
...Was recently indexed
Optimizing tables...
Indexing complete !

Is SSL not supported at all with PHPDig? I thought it was by looking at the documentation. Any suggestions on how I can get this to work?
