it may be worth your while using the sql files to setup your database then use phpadmin to check they are all in place and the tables are correct.
The address of the database has to be spot on unless it is localhost.
You could try and edit the Auth.php file to show a 1 instead of zero which may kick it into action and then log off, sometimes it is the delay in connecting that causes the problem.
