Search times are something we are working on at the moment by tuning our hardware/software .. For a common word search times can range from milliseconds to a few seconds ..
I'm going to take a look at the different tables after reading that other thread - seems we are not indexing any sites at the moment so I would have throught the temporary table would be empty .. time for a backup/empty.
