I changed my post... because it was my bad. PuTTY was messing with the text... that's all.

Anyway... I was also wondering, how does spidering compare to surfing a page in terms of using bandwidth... I guess it would be substantially less, because it's not downloading images?

Hi. PhpDig does grab the text so that can be substantial, depending on the options and site. Just crawl your site and check your raw access logs to see an example of usage.
