Could not run set names.

i have a problem with phpdig and apache 2

i can connect on phpdig/admin/install.php but when i want test the connectivity, i have the following message : Could not run set names.

if i choose update table : nothing is doing.

Can you help me

One of two things... either you are not running MySQL 4.1.7+ or you don't have permission to run the following query: SET NAMES 'utf8';
